A New Direction

Addiction Recovery Centers by Wellington Fox

A New Direction was founded with a simple belief: recovery should be the beginning of a new life, not just the absence of substances. Our sober living homes in the Kansas City metro provide a safe, structured environment where men and women can rebuild stability while developing the character, discipline, and mindset needed to succeed in the real world.

Operated under the umbrella of Wellington Fox, A New Direction is run with the same standards, structure, and intentional culture that guide our business. We believe recovery thrives in an environment of accountability, purpose, and personal responsibility. Our homes are designed not only to support sobriety, but to help residents grow into stronger, more capable individuals.

We emphasize principles such as discipline, resilience, responsibility, and stoic values—learning to control what we can control, face adversity with strength, and build a life based on integrity and purpose. Residents are encouraged to pursue meaningful work, strengthen their physical and mental health, and develop the habits that create long-term success.

Our motto comes from Proverbs 27:17 — “As iron sharpens iron, so one person sharpens another.” This principle defines our community. We hold ourselves—and each other—to extremely high standards. Through accountability, mentorship, and mutual support, residents help one another grow stronger every day.

Unlike many programs that allow people to remain in sober living indefinitely, our goal is not long-term dependency. We are here to help people rebuild their foundation and move forward. A New Direction is designed to be a launching point—equipping residents with the stability, mindset, and life skills needed to step confidently into independent, successful lives.

At A New Direction, recovery is just the starting point. The real goal is transformation.

-A New Direction Sober Living Homes are Level II sober living residences, meaning each home is supported by an in-house manager who helps oversee daily operations. The house manager promotes structure and accountability by ensuring residents complete assigned chores, maintain sobriety, resolve conflicts appropriately, and uphold the standards of the home. This leadership helps create a stable, supportive, and recovery-focused living environment.

-Each home requires a $200 move-in deposit and a weekly program fee of $170. We understand that every individual’s situation is different, so we offer flexible payment arrangements and may provide a grace period for qualifying residents who are entering the home while unemployed.

-Admission requires each resident to provide a clean urinalysis (UA) prior to move-in. To support continued accountability and sobriety within the home, residents are also subject to random drug testing.

-Residents are expected to complete assigned household chores on a daily or weekly basis, depending on the responsibility. To maintain consistency and organization, chores are assigned to each bed rather than to a specific individual.
